All About Watahs
This is part 1 of a 4 part series on spiritual waters and colognes. First up; Florida water. Currently, I have 4 varieties of spiritual colognes available for purchase for the holiday season on my website soulthingsbotanica.com
Florida Water is arguably the one of the most marketed spiritual items in recent history. Everyone is familiar with the Murray & Lauman branded version but traditionally, Florida water has strong notes of citrus and cinnamon. It was even used by pirates and sailors as a cologne. Spiritualists use it as a general vibe and aura refresher. Think of it as a spiritual hand sanitizer. Pat some directly on the back of your neck if you're feeling stressed. Splash some on your palms and run it over your body for a quick pick me up. Spray some in your vehicle or in your office to reset the vibe.
In my blend of Florida Watah I use a base of orange, lime, cinnamon, cloves and rosemary. A bit of white rum. Every one makes their Florida water a bit differently but that’s that makes it so special. Let me be clear: the store bought, alcohol based version isn’t the worst thing. Magic, alchemy, spirituality - all of these practices are about using what you have to get what you want. Sometimes it simply is what it is in regard to your ability to access certain items or ingredients. However, there is a lot of power in plants, herbs, fruits and live matter in general.
An ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of the cure. Some of the most basic things in your spiritual hygiene regiment will be what stabilizes and fortifies you. Most of us have to engage with dozens if not hundreds of different people every day. From chatting with strangers on social media, interfacing with clients, coworkers and customers, taking public transportation or even driving to work, our energy gets touched by every person we interact with.
Strong emotions alter our biochemistry by releasing hormones into our bodies. That heated argument in the comments of your post on social media? Elevated your cortisol. That weird ass interaction between strangers on the subway or that road rage incident on the way home? Adrenaline is coursing your your body. Disappointment, anger, fear, anxiety; all of these emotions are natural and are a part of life. However, you cannot allow the feelings and their residual effects on your physical and spiritual body to linger without addressing them, cleansing them and moving on.
In my opinion, too many practitioners focus on the impact of evil eye and monitoring spirits when in actuality that polarity exists whether we choose to acknowledge it or not. Does the existence of dirt and grime cause you to forgo showering every day? Alright then. Dirt exists. Bad mind exists. Obsessive spirits and weird ass people exist. That’s life! The same way you wouldn’t get in the bed wearing your outside clothes, getting into a practice of cleansing yourself daily can be a helpful habit that keeps the spiritual cooties away. Establish methods of routinely cleansing yourself and keep track of your baths, floor washes and decluttering sessions. While one bath cannot remove a lifetime of negative experiences, nor is it a replacement for medical attention, with consistency and diligence you will notice significant changes in your physical, spiritual and mental health.
Try making a very simple white bath for general clarity and cleansing.
Ingredients:
coconut water
Milk - cow/goats milk or coconut milk. I’ve never done it with nut or rice milk but use what you have available to you
white flowers
coconut, chopped or shredded
eggshell or cascarilla/efun
Florida Water
A basin or a large pot
Fill your basin or pot with your liquid elements. Add in your flowers, chopped or shredded coconut and your eggshells. Add a splash of Florida water and say your prayers and intentions for the bath. While praying, massage your flowers, coconut and eggshell, tearing, shredding and as you go. When satisfied, strain off the pulp and take your spiritual bath as you’d like. Some folks prefer to soak in their baths and some like the pour over method after a shower.
After taking your bath allow yourself to air dry. Put on some light or white clothing afterwards and cover your head in white cloth. Abstain from sexual intimacy with yourself or others for the duration of your bath cycle.
Burn a white candle and/or use some of the mixture in your mop water as a floor wash for an extra push.
Take this bath for one night or for 3, 5 or 9 consecutive nights.
Thats all for now! I have a fresh batch of Florida Watah in the works right now and I’m taking orders over at my site soulthingsbotanica.com. Hope you enjoyed this piece and I’ll be back with more. Thanks for reading!
Peace,
Nikki
